Marc Feustel is an independent writer, editor, curator, and educator based in Paris. A specialist in Japanese photography, he is the author of More Than One World: New Japanese Photography Fifty Years On (Akaaka, 2025). As a curator, his projects include Japan A Self-Portrait, 1945–1964 (Setagaya Art Museum, Tokyo), Tokyo Stories (Kulturhuset, Stockholm), Eikoh Hosoe: Theatre of Memory (Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney), and A Female Perspective (T3 Photo Festival, Tokyo).
He writes regularly about photography and photobooks for publications including European Photography, Foam, IMA, and Tempura and ran the blog eyecurious.com (2009–2013). As a freelance editor and translator he works with publishers and art institutions including le19M, Aperture, Atelier EXB, Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection, Bernard Chauveau Edition, Catalogue Général, Flammarion, Lafayette Anticipations, MACK, Paris Musées, and Tombolo Presses.
Marc regularly participates as a speaker, panelist and host of talks and discussions on photography and photobooks.
